If you are technically proficient and familiar with Linux, PHP, MySQL and Apache then osCommerce is reasonably easy to install. Otherwise, you may want to consider purchasing our osCommerce installation package.

Customizing osCommerce

The osCommerce installation has a default template system installed that is very generic. You can customize the osCommerce template system by using pre-built templates. This is a quick and inexpensive solution to setting up your online store with a professional design look.

You can also create a custom design for your osCommerce store. If you want to do that you should consider installing CRE Loaded, which is a modified version of osCommerce. CRE Loaded has all of the features of osCommerce with a template management system that makes it easier to modify and maintain your store's design. The quickest and easiest way to create a customized design is to start with an existing template for CRE Loaded and modify it to meet your particular needs.
